Physicians and NonPhysician Practitioners have used the same documentation guidelines for coding Evaluation and Management Services for almost 30 years. As of January 1, 2023, the level of service for hospital, nursing home, home and ALF visits will only be chosen based on time or Medical Decision Making. This webinar will provide attendees with the basics needed to correctly document, code and bill for hospice physician and palliative care visits.

The target audience for this webinar includes: Hospice and Palliative Care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, coders, billers, reimbursement analysts, those working in clinical document improvement including EMR template development.

Objectives:

  • Determine the coding categories for patients seen in the home or ALF;
  • List the 3 Elements of Medical Decision Making
  • Understand the activities that can be counted when coding based one time

About the Presenter:

Jean Acevedo, LHRM, CPC, CHC, CENTC, AAPC Fellow President

and CEO of Acevedo Consulting Incorporated is a compliance consultant with a particular expertise in chart audits, compliance and education. Her firm assists providers in implementing effective compliance programs, including meeting HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
