Session Overview:

A panel of hospice agency leaders will discuss the forthcoming end of the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency and its impact on hospice and palliative care. Topics will include but are not limited to how agency operations were adjusted and are expected to change going forward pertaining to the comprehensive assessment, telehealth visits, volunteers, patient and family education, masking requirements and how they may differ and more.

Meet Our Panelists:       

Maureen Leahy, RN, BSN, MPH, CHPN Chief Clinical Officer - Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice

Maureen Leahy has served as the Chief Clinical Officer at Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice since August of 2022. Her role is to work collaboratively with staff and leadership to help form the strategic direction of care programs, culture, education, and staff resources. Maureen moved to Wisconsin from Sarasota, FL where she was part of a large care navigation program with Empath Health – a merged company including two large legacy hospice programs ~ Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and Tidewell Hospice. She has played integral roles in nursing and leadership throughout her career including Associate Director of Nursing in The Hertzberg Institute for Palliative Care at The Mount Sinai Health System and Manager of the Wiener Family Palliative Care Unit in Manhattan. She has been a trainer, speaker and educator spanning over a 40-year career in Nursing. Maureen graduated from Niagara University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's in health care administration from National Louis University in Chicago.

Angie Zastrow, RN, CHPN Director of Nursing - Rainbow Hospice Care

Angie Zastrow began her hospice career in 2006, beginning her specialty as an RNCM and moving into a leadership role in 2015 where she managed Rainbow's eight bed inpatient facility for the next seven years. Most recently, Angie was promoted to the Director of Nursing position where she oversees the clinical management of the Inpatient Center, homecare nursing, admissions and triage department as well as new employee orientation and staff education.  

Kimberly Olson, RN, CHPN, CHC

Chief Compliance Officer - St. Croix Hospice

Kimberly Olson, RN, CHPN, CHC is the Chief Compliance Officer of St. Croix Hospice, the largest hospice agency in the Midwest, headquartered in Oakdale, Minnesota. With more than 20 years nursing experience, Kimberly began her career in labor and delivery before bringing her talents to hospice care where she is now certified in Healthcare Compliance and as a Hospice & Palliative Care Nurse. Kimberly also serves on the NHPCO Legislative Affairs Committee, Co-Chairs Minnesota Hospice and Palliative Care Policy Committee, and volunteers for the Hospice Action Network as an advocate of hospice and palliative care utilization. In 2021 she co-authored the Post-Acute Care: Hospices chapter of the HCCA Complete Healthcare Compliance Manual. In 2022 she was a named a Top 50 Women Leader in Minnesota and a Top 50 Women Leader in Healthcare. Additionally, she was a finalist for the NAVEX Customer Excellence Award for demonstrating the positive impact the compliance program has on workplace culture, workforce and overall organizational productivity.
